SLJ DAY 2:ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN ACTIVITY 2

Let's take off to the sky.

I wanna take a trip to the moon.

We have landed on this rock now let's take one step on the moon. I feel no air on this rock. It feels just like it was yesterday that I took one step on this moon.

SLJ DAY 1 ACTIVITY 3

Charity: Auckland City Mission

This charity helps families, people that are in need. When people call their charity for help the charity ask them two questions first here are the questions. Question 1 : What are these people, families immediate needs? Question 2: What can be changed to positively improve their chances for the future? And then they help those people or families.

SLJ DAY 1: Explorers

Ten foods that I would bring:

  1.  Can tuna - I will bring this because it is already cooked and I can just eat it in the can. 
  2. Salad - I will bring this because so that I can be healthy.
  3. Rice - I bring this because I can eat it with some other foods I will bring.
  4. Pork - I will bring this food because I will be hungry if I just eat some tuna and salad and other foods that I will bring.
  5. Adobo - I will bring this food because it's my favourtie dish.
  6. Spam - Because its already cooked and I don’t need to cook it.
  7. Sinigang - because it has soup and pork and vegies.
  8. Cooked fish - I will bring this because it has meat and it's a bit healthy for you.
  9. Barbecue - because it is meat  and it has sauce in it.
  10. KFC - Because it is my fav and it is yummy.

My Reading Task This Week

Plastic Fantastic Tasks: 

Task 1: Read the story to yourself!
I read the story to myself already!

Task 2: Come up with one question about the article:
My question was: What happens if some supermarkets stop selling plastic bags.

Task 3: Five and six bullet points of facts about current issues around plastic in New Zealand:
  • Some supermarkets still sell some plastic bags.
  • People use plastic bags for only a short period of time and then they throw it out.
  • Some plastic bags are just thrown on roads or pathways or on beaches.
  • Plastic bottles are mostly seen at lands and streets.
  • Some of the things brought into supermarkets or shops are made out of plastic.
  • To help solve some plastic problems, people should bring cloth bags when they go shopping, people should only use plastic bags if they really need to, people should stop using plastic bottles.

Task 4: Create a poster about the bullet Points:
Task 5: Post one of your favourite tasks on your blog:
I will post the poster about the bullet points I did because it is a good poster in my opinion.

Task 6: five words that I dont know from the text:
  1. Contaminated - meaning: been made by a poisonous substance!
  2. Estimated - meaning: a value or a number, calculated 
  3. Flimsy - meaning: easily damaged 
  4. Biodegradable - meaning: capable of being decomposed
  5. Cutlery - meaning: knives, forks, spoons used for eating or serving food

Task 7: read the facts on page 4 with a buddy and look at page 9 and discuss on how to solve the problems on page 4:

For fact two we did bring your own cloth bags when you go shopping so you dont have to collect a lot of plastic bags. 

For the first fact we did say no to plastic bag at the checkout. 

For the third fact we did make sure your family keeps a stash of old plastic bags or cloth bags and a box

For the fourth fact we did make sure you try to reuse plastic bags as bin liners or anything useful you can think of.

For fact 5 we did say no to plastic bag if your only buying a bit of things

For fact 6 we did dont litter or use a lot of plastic

My Ideas on how we can help the Kererus

Last week we had been doing tasks on reading and we had really fun tasks to do and this task was the funnest task in my opinion. I chose this task to put on my blog because it was the best that I made I think.

Idea 1: Plant more trees and plant more plants where Kereru lives.

My writing this week!

This week we have been doing another writing challenge. This challenge is about the last week writing challenge were we had to get lots of points to get 30 minutes free time. I didn't beat my last week's points but its fine.

Here is my writing, check it out:

The winter writing

It’s a chilly, freezing day and as the snow quickly falls on the trees, the ground, the hot blooded animals appears out from their secret hideout and the king of winter is here.

‘Crunch,’ as the king of winter stomps on the clear, frozen, and slippery pathway, as he tries not to injure himself on the icy pathway.

As the cold wind pushes the  dried leaves from the tree the snow from it slowly goes down on the ground. The land is frozen like antarctica.
Some animals making noises and wandering around in the frozen place. Others are dying because of coldness.

The day has finally come to an end, the sun has set and now it stopped snowing and some animals are warm now.

My Piece of hard work

This week we had been doing lots of reading and blooms task and if we have finished all the task we pick one task to post in our blogs and I picked this one because I feel like this is the longest reading tasks I did.

  1. Why did mum blamed Mr Fowles? Mum blamed Mr Fowles because her son was sick of the adjectives and things like that.
  2. Why did the main character hate Mr Fowles? He hates Mr Fowles because Mr Fowles kept giving adjectives.
  3. Was mum being to worried about him? Yes mum was being to worried about him.

  1. Mum took him to a doctor
  2. The doctor was explaining why he was getting sick of words
  3. Shane and him fought
  4. They went back home and mum kept complaining about Mr Fowles and the main character had to rinse his mouth
  5. The police went to him and he asked how the burglar was like and he couldn’t describe him

Mum is a very loving mum. She is always worried about her young son.
She is too worried if something small happens to her son.

She has blond her and looks young. She wears a blue dress. She lives with her son and her husband.

  2. Mum - A lady who raised you and takes care of you and who gave birth to you.

In my opinion I think this can happen in real life because a mum can be really worried and a person can get sick of tired of adjectives. Also people are different so that's why I think this can happen in real life.

I rate this text a 6 out of 10 because its interesting and I actually relate to this story and also because there are lots of adjectives in this text.

Orientation:
Openining: The opening is they were in a doctors office because his mum was worried about him because he was not feeling well about the adjectives.

Problem: The main character couldn’t think of any adjective and that he gets sick of the adjectives. Also that he saw a burglar in his neighbours house.

Solution: The solution of the adjective was that he had to not go to school and he had to rinse his mouth all the time. The solution of the burglar was that he called the police.

Conclusion: The conclusion was that he just didn’t say anything to the police because he couldn’t think of any adjectives to describe the burglar.

Summary:
This week we have been reading a book called Weapons of Mass Description.
The author of the story is Anna Kenna.
The story is about a boy that hates adjectives and he needed to go see 4 doctors because his mum was really worried about him. Also that he had a fight with a boy called Shane because of the adjectives.
The problem was that he fought with Shane and that he saw a burglar in his neighbours house.
The story took place in the school,house, and the doctor's office and like the candy shop.

Shane and him didn’t talk to each other for three days and they didn’t fight anymore. He called the police of that the burglar could get caught.
