Term Reflection in Art

Hey yo, these past few weeks we have been looking at stop motion films and clay creations. We have also been planning our stop motion films. Here is what we have done so far in art.

In the start we had a little play around making flipbooks as an exercise. Everyone each had 8 or more pieces of paper and would draw easy drawings. My flipbook was about a ball falling down from the sky and falling into a hole, the hole would then disappear.

Let's now move on into me and my buddy's stop motion plan. My buddy is Artee and we decided to make a stop motion film about an alien trying to find food in Jupiter and trying to bring it to Mars.

We have 3 characters which are basically aliens, the main alien is called Chimmy, the second alien is called Minny, and the third alien is called Ding Dong. Minny and Chimmy are related and Ding Dong is a very old alien who has stored plenty of food for years.

Lastly we learned the pinching technique a few days ago. It was hard since the clay was quite hard and the clay can get skinny.

Here's a picture of my clay monster creation:

Kupe and the Giant Wheke

Hello this week, we read about a legendary character called Kupe who found his fishing lines were empty because his hooks and nets were covered in a thick slime, the kind of slime that would have probably been made by an octopus.

Main characters in the story are Kupe, his wife Hine-Te-Aparangi and Muturangi the owner of Te Wheke, the giant octopus.

Kupe said he would kill Muturangi’s pet, Te Wheke. After that, the following things happened, Kupe went home and told his wife what happened and they decided to take the big waka to hunt down the octopus and bring some warriors to help them. When they sailed far out to sea they tried to bait Te Wheke the octopus to come closer. Then the octopus got a hold of the waka and the waka started tipping everyone into th
e water. For weeks they have chased Te Wheke.

In the end, two major things happened. Hine-Te-Aparangi saw something unusual. It was Aotearoa AND Te Wheke was escaping, but then he was clubbed with Kupe’s mere and died.

How Cyberbullying isn't Cool

 Dear Readers,

Today's Blog is about cyberbullying, something we've been working on this class.

Information I studied about cyberbullying included how you could go to prison for 2 years and fined up to 50,000 for inviduals. It is also an offense to incite someone to commit suicide. Digital information can be quickly shared, spread and viewed, stored in multiple locations.

My advice I would like to give people is that to think of these questions first before saying things online: Is it kind?, is it smart?, is it necessary?

Here's an image to illustrate my work:

I hope that you like my work, hopefully you have learned something.
Please comment so I can do better :)

Bell Week

Hello, today this blog post is about the band Six60 because one of their songs were on our bell.

The song that was put in our bell was called "That's All She Wrote."

Six60 was orginally formed in New Zealand, Dunedin in 2008. The band got their name from the street number they lived of the house they lived at in Dunedin, 660.

Six60 has 5 members and those are Matiu who plays the guitar and is a vocal, Chris who plays bass guitar, Ji is the lead guitar, Eli who drums and Marlon who synths.

The song was about communications, relationships but I think it was about a girl who broke up with one of the member and saying goodbye I think. I think one of the members were reading like letter that she wrote. I think the note or letter he was reading was about her announcing her departure.

Here are my thoughts on our school bells.

I think
the songs they put on every week in our school bells are fine. Some get my vibes some don't. I think I would suggest some modern songs a lot of people listen to now like kpop song.

Gummy Bear Osmosis

Aim: I want to find what happens to Gummy Bears when we put them into different solutions.

Prediction: I predict that they will dissolve into the solutions. I also predict that the salt water will make the gummy bear smaller

Method:

Equipment:

4x Gummy Bears

2x petri Dishes

paper towels

marker pen

water

sugar water

salt water

electronic balance

Beaker

measuring cylinder

Steps:

1. get your equipment

2. Put your safety glasses

3. using the marker pen write the name of the condition on the petri dish. Dry, water. salt water. sugar water.

4. Weigh the gummy bear and write the weight on the petri dish

5. Measure 40ml of the solution and pour into petri dish.

Discussion
osmosis
- The normal water was transferred into the gummy bear the most.
- The dry gummy bear lost 0.11 grams over a week.
- The sugar water diffused faster than the salt water.

Diffusion meaning is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Diffusion happens in liquids and gases because their particles move randomly from place to place. Diffusion is an important process for living things.

pH

Definition: pH (Potential of hydrogen) is a scale of acidity from 0 - 14 with 7 being neutral.

pH Explained

All solutions have pH. Acid solutions, have lower pH. Alkaline solutions, have bigger pH. Substances that aren't acid or alkaline (that is, neutral solutions) usually have a pH of 7. Acids have a pH that is less than 7. Alkalies have a pH that is greater than 7.

Equipment: Beaker, Bunsen burner, cabbage, beetroot.
